The Dates, Nuts and Chocolate Slice made without sugar is a blessing for those who love their sweets but away from sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Festivals are busy days.. so much to do and so little time. And this festival seemed like a perfect opportunity to share this wonderful recipe with you all.
It is one easy recipe to put together. It literally takes less than 10 minutes. All the work is done by the food processor or mixer grinder. Be sure to use the best quality gooey dates for that caramely and chewy slice. The toppings can be of your choice and fancy. I have made a liberal use of the Versatile Seed Mix I shared with you all yesterday. I strongly recommend this recipe to all those who have sweet tooth and ❤️ chocolate but not the sugar..
Enjoy!!
Dates, Nuts and Chocolate Slice
Ingredients
- 2 cups seedless dates, good quality (see notes)
- 1/2 cup ground almonds ( I used almond meal)
- 1/2 cup ground cashews (I have used cashew meal)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- toppings to your choice
Instructions
Take a pan, thali or cake tin. I have used 7 inch cake tin. 6 inch tin or thali will give you a thicker slice. Line it with grease proof paper (optional).
In a food processor or mixer grinder add the dates and grind it to a fine paste. If required, to it in two batches. Now add the powdered nuts, cocoa powder and vanilla. Process/grind to mix well.
Remove in the pan and spread evenly.
Spread the toppings and slightly press them.
Chill it in the refrigerator. Slice in 8 fractions (like pizza).
Notes
After washing the dates dry them thoroughly. If your dates are not very soft you may have to soak them. I have not soaked the dates as they were fairly soft. You may use only almonds or mix more nuts like hazelnuts or pecans etc. according to your choice. Take care while grinding the almonds and not grinding it so much that it oozes oil..
