Choffee Shots… because it is that time of the year once again when all you want is to indulge in some warm desserts as you lie snuggled under the comfort of warm blankets….I simply adore this time of the year and love everything winters bring with it. The day begins with a cup of ginger+mint+lemongrass tea I have with my feet wrapped around a warm throw or a kutchhi pure wool hand woven shawl. As the globe warms up, the winters have become bearable in my part of world nonetheless, I like to follow the rituals we associate with winters and food is integral of these rituals.
Since past few years, I have been living in a country that practically has no seasons. Its just the dry and the wet months. We never experience winters here in Singapore but, I am lucky enough to head over to my hometown Ahmedabad every December when my girls have a winter break at their school. So before we begin our December vacation and amidst all the preparations for the annual workshops I conduct in Ahmedabad I felt like ending the year with this sweet, easy, quick and comforting dessert shots I like to whiz up for my house parties. The original recipe is Sanjeev Kapoor’s Chocolate Shots but I have made some additions to the ingredients and changed the method to suit my style of cooking and taste. Since, it is not just the chocolate here but, the enticing bitterness of coffee that completes this dessert I choose to call it Choffee Shots!! Infuse the shots with the orange zest as they pair very well and notch it up further with a dash of rum if you are not serving them to children. The orange and rum make it a very sophisticated dessert. Try it!!
A note of caution… make a double batch of these Choffee Shots as the guests will be asking for a second serving, I promise!!
Cheers to a peaceful and joyous 2018. Wishing you all a very fulfilling year ahead. Thank you for the love and support you have shown to this space….
